The next destination on our geographical label map is the East Bay of Northern California, USA, we place the pin in San Jose/Sacramento and release YOUNG IDEA's debut album. After MADTOWN MULLIGAN and the WEST LORDS, this is the third NorCal combo on SPIRIT OF THE STREETS. Short band history: YOUNG IDEA formed a few years ago, the musicians involved previously played with the HUB CITY STOMPERS, TRIED AND TRUE, STAGGER AND FALL etc., singer Big Chuck was the frontman of the WHISKEY REBELS, the Sacto Pride. You might still know them from their GMM and PEOPLE LIKE YOU releases.
To date, YOUNG IDEA has released the “Warpaint” 7? published on CHAPTER 11, accompanied by various sampler contributions on, among others, “This is not dead”, “Gilman Ska Night 1 and 2?, “No guts, no glory 2?, “Oi! the Tape” “War paint” and the earlier material were a skankin’ melting pot of OP IVY/RANCID style offbeat and US street punk, on “Through Stress And Storm” the “tough as nails” street punk card is resolutely played. Powerful, combative “Ready to fight” anthems with killer instincts: butterfly-sharp guitar riffs, nimble melodies, rough'n'angry power vocals, room-filling singalongs, punchy drum beats. Everything played hard to the point, with old school hardcore precision as backing. Hard knock out pace, confidently swinging between mid-tempo and up-tempo. Rowdy approved, tight as hell. With “Losing Season” in your ears you can dismantle an entire pub without much fuss...blood pressure at the limit, bite force of 2000 Newtons.
